Sitting High With Jesus

Jesus showed me how safe it is with Him.

ENCOUNTERS WITH JESUS

While spending time with Jesus one day, I saw Him and I sitting on a bench on the top of a mountain cliff. Opposite us, in the sky, the sun was setting. We were seated high above everything else it seems. It was just the two of us and it was peaceful.

I was worried about some things - what exactly, I cannot remember. Jesus asked me if there was any evil that could confront Him and overcome Him in that place where we were seated.

I said, "No, Lord, there is no evil that has the boldness to come confront you, here. There is no evil that can defeat you, here."

He replied, "Then, you see, you're safe with me, in my presence."

His statement hit me with its Truth. He is right! When I abide in Him, in His Presence, there is no evil that can overcome me because I am IN Him and there is no evil that can overcome Him!

Scriptures to meditate on:

1. and (God has) raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, [Ephesians 2:6 NASB1995 - all emphasis mine]

2. (Jesus is seated in the heavenly places - paraphrased vs. 20) far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. [Ephesians 1:21 NASB1995- all emphasis mine)

3. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity (or fear, cowardice), but of power and love and discipline. [2 Timothy 1:7 NASB1995 - all emphasis mine]

4. Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. [Colossians 3:1-3 NASB1995]

Closing Thoughts / Application:

You may be wondering how to abide in Him in these heavenly places where evil will not be able to overcome you. It's as simple as setting your focus on Him!

Don't focus - worry about, meditate on - the evil that threatens you; rather, focus on Him who has all the answers and protection you need (hence, Colossians 3:1-3). By focusing on Him, you continually abide in Him!

Practical Ways to Focus on Him:

*Talk to Him all the time in your mind or out loud: tell Him everything you feel and are going through.

*Sing to Him with your own made up songs or with worship songs that you like and that uplift you.

*Meditate on (think about) your favorite scriptures while you're doing other tasks - they may have nothing to do with your situation or you may feel as if they don't apply to you because you're not David or Moses etc. - you may think you're not important enough for these scriptures. But those scriptures touch your heart for a reason! God's WORD IS LIFE, not coincidence - and it is HIS LIFE speaking to YOU!

*Read encouraging verses in the WORD that refresh your soul, hence your emotions will be touched and uplifted.

*Think about all the beautiful, powerful prophetic words that have been spoken to you and imagine them coming into fulfilment.

*Daydream about the abundant life that you desire from Jesus (John 10:10). What does it look like?

Notice that these are all ways to direct your thoughts, words, and actions towards Jesus! This is focusing on Him! This is abiding in Him!
